2. a place of safety or sanctuary; shelter

what is havening?

A haven is a safe place, and the origin of Havening Technique has a foundation in neurobiology, utilizing neuroplasticity to de-link emotional responses to traumatic memories.

Just as a ship returns to its port after time away at sea, so must we find places of safety.

Havening initially takes place in conjunction with a therapeutic conversation. However, once you have learned the skill, it’s a practice you can use for the rest of your life without the necessity of a practitioner to administer the process.

Through therapeutically applied physical touch (gentle stroking movements) to the arms, hands and face, the dominant brain frequencies are changed, while at the same time a release of helpful hormones takes place (serotonin, oxytocin, dopamine and GABA). In short, touch can increase Delta Waves in your brain that release feel good chemicals. The touch is applied by the client themselves.

Clients can be reluctant to talk about their traumas; they are hesitant to bring them to the surface just to have the session end and without the matter being resolved in any valuable way. The Havening Technique requires very little discussion regarding the problem the client is experiencing or from the event from which those problems presumably arose. Havening offers rapid and sustainable results and is a true game changer.
